The Beginning

This is the original Hangabouts prototype my dad Allan and I made on our kitchen table and neither of us had any idea where it would lead let alone the journey that would follow.

Roughly two years later Dad was diagnosed with cancer and after a three year battle we lost him to this horrible disease. You just never know what's ahead of you.

I've always believed in backing yourself and following your passion because we only get one shot at life. To me success is waking up every morning doing what you love with the people you choose to do it with.

Looking back I couldn't have imagined where that first prototype would take me or what I'd be working on today.

There's a lot more to Hangabouts than the products you see on this website. Over the years we've developed a much broader range of suspension products and solutions for different ceiling types and applications. Whether it's developing a prototype, customising something for a single store or manufacturing products on a much larger scale, we can adapt our designs to suit what's needed. Some of those products are being redesigned and engineered as I write this.

I'll be using these stories to share our journey and the evolution of the Hangabouts suspension system, the new products we're developing and how visual merchandising is changing with digital ticketing, monitors and AI. The combination of these technologies is going to change retail in a big way and that change isn't far away.
